Sibenik Region

Nestled between the azure blue sea and green hills, the Šibenik region unfolds as a mosaic of history, nature and maritime lifestyle. Šibenik itself, one of the oldest towns on the Croatian coast, impresses with its imposing fortress landscape and the world-famous Cathedral of St. James (UNESCO World Heritage Site). The narrow streets tell of centuries of eventful history, while the surrounding islands and national parks invite you to go on unforgettable exploration tours - a dream destination for sailors, nature lovers and culture explorers alike.

Highlights of the Šibenik region

Thanks to its sheltered location, well-equipped marinas and proximity to the Kornati Islands, the Šibenik region is considered one of the best Croatian sailing areas. Quiet anchorages in turquoise waters, idyllic fishing villages or exciting natural wonders - a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure awaits you.

Šibenik itself captivates with its medieval old town, the four fortresses of St. Michael, St. Nicholas, St. John and Barone as well as ornate stone staircases that wind their way through the city. The Cathedral of St. James in particular is one of the most impressive buildings in Dalmatia, while Banj Beach - one of the most beautiful city beaches in Croatia - offers a fantastic view of the historic skyline.

National parks & natural wonders

The region is surrounded by breathtaking nature: National parks with spectacular waterfalls, dynamic mountains and the rugged coastline delight active vacationers. Whether cycling through the Nikola Canyon, kayaking tours along the coast or stand-up paddling through hidden bays - countless outdoor experiences await you.

The region is home to two spectacular national parks:

  • One is Krka National Park, which is famous for its impressive waterfalls such as Skradinski Buk, which are perfect for swimming.
  • The other is the Kornati National Park, an archipelago of over 140 uninhabited islands with dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear water - a dream destination for sailors.

Island paradise around Šibenik - nature, culture & relaxation

The offshore islands such as Zlarin, the car-free island of corals, or our insider tip Zirje, are a true jewel of the Adriatic. Away from the crowds of tourists, you will find authentic Mediterranean villages, hidden bays and unspoiled nature.

  • The largest and liveliest island in the region is definitely Murter and is considered the gateway to the Kornati National Park. It attracts visitors with beautiful beaches such as Slanica and Podvrške and a lively harbor atmosphere. Here you can enjoy water sports, fresh seafood or take a boat trip to the Kornati islands.
  • Zlarin, also known as the island of corals, is a true natural idyll. Motorized vehicles are prohibited here, which makes the island particularly quiet and relaxing. It is famous for its centuries-old coral jewelry tradition.
  • Prvić is a small island with two picturesque villages - Prvić Luka and Šepurine. It impresses with its authentic character, car-free streets and a close connection to Dalmatian seafaring culture. The museum of inventor Faust Vrančić, who designed the first sketch of a parachute, is a particular highlight.
  • Krapanj is the lowest island in the Adriatic and is known for its centuries-old tradition of sponge diving. A visit to the island museum lets you learn more about this unique craft. The peaceful atmosphere in Krapanj is ideal for a relaxing day trip.
  • For those looking for a break, the small island of Kaprije is perfect. Only a few hundred inhabitants live here, and the unspoiled nature and secluded bays make Kaprije the ideal place for sailors and those seeking peace and quiet.

Whether you are exploring the historic towns, sailing through secluded bays or discovering the wild nature - the Šibenik region offers unforgettable moments on the water, in the mountains and on land.
